We are more than 15 years into the 21st century. My first graders are held to the standard of speaking the language of technology, but only given bare minimal tools to help them succeed. Please help them succeed and become fluent in technology!
I have a classroom of eager, active first graders.
Our small school is nestled in a rural community. Many of my students do not have access to computers, tablets, or even internet at home. I'm working hard to bring technology into their lives and allow these children the ability to experience all it has to offer a 21st century classroom.
My Project
If I can manage to get the technology into their eager hands, the options are limitless! My students will be able to explore planets, national parks, different states, countries, and continents. They can take virtual field trips to places they will likely never have a chance to visit; like Antarctica or the deepest parts of the ocean. Technology makes learning come to life. It brings a deeper level of understanding to all students.
Students will be able to work cooperatively on STEM science projects, watch videos on math concepts that they are having trouble understanding, practice virtually every concept learned in class. Students can visit Google Hangouts to collaborate with children in different states, or even countries.
I guess the bigger question here is what can't they do with this technology.
