Help Bring the BOOM!

Help me give my students a bass drum for a complete ensemble! My band currently has a snare drum, mallets, and a few accessories, but no bass drum. This bass drum would help complete our ensemble sound!

My Students

Although the band program is very much new to this school the students already feel as though it is an honor to be a part of the program. Even on days when I feel worn out and tired, I can't help but to be excited because of how excited my students are every time they come to band. They are so eager to learn their instruments and always come ready to ask questions. They truly understand the concept of "never give up" and this has shown evident in our previous performance when I challenged the students to play a piece that was slightly above their playing level at the time, but it was attainable and they did it!

They are hard working students and I love getting to have them in band!

My Project

The percussion section helps us keep a steady beat and currently they do the best they can with my help. The snare drum, however, tends to play on what we call "off" or "weak" beats and this can really confuse young players with trying to understand where the main or steady beat then shifts to or takes place. With the bass drum we will be able to not only continue to maintain and understand a steady beat, but it will completely transform the ensemble sound. This will also be a new instrument for the students to see, feel, and hear in person!
