I teach in a wonderful community that is growing more diverse by the day. My students come from a variety of different backgrounds, but one common thing is they all want to learn in a creative, safe, and engaging environment. This year I have the added challenge of getting students that range in reading levels from Kindergarten to Grade 14. It makes providing materials to learn social studies a great challenge.
They are excited to learn and need additional tools in which to do so!
My students want to do well, and I want to provide them with the tools to do so!
My Project
Social Studies is often difficult to teach my 7th grade students. For many, they read well below grade level which makes bringing in materials for them to learn the curriculum an extreme challenge. As an added challenge, this year, I have students ranging in reading levels from Kindergarten to Grade 14. I would like to have some Chromebooks available for students in the classroom so that I can flip my classroom (record lessons and post them on Youtube) for students that need extra reinforcement and don't have access to technology and/or internet at home. I would also like to use the technology in a variety of station based learning where students have some choice and variety in learning about history whether its for remediation or extension of the material learned.
