Help Bring Color Into My Classroom!

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn vocabulary and speech sounds in color. Color materials are engaging, realistic, and bring sights that my students would not have the opportunity to experience outside of my room.

My Students

I teach 15 low-income 3 and 4-year-old students in an urban school district with high levels of poverty. My students love coming to school to learn every day as our school provides them with a safe, caring learning environment. I want to be able to give my students the materials they need to be successful which is difficult due to the lack of funding our school receives. My students have significant developmental delays in speech and language. This half-day program was created to give these little learners the focused speech and language instruction and skills they will need to be successful in kindergarten and beyond.

My Project

I will be using this colored printer to create engaging hands-on materials to aid in student communication and learning. Colored pictures with help me bring the world to life for students that seldom leave their own neighborhood. At my school, teachers do not have access to a colored printer and the materials are not as exciting for my young students when everything is printed in black and white.

I want my students to be able to see in color!

This will help them build vocabulary, practice speech sounds, and build early literacy skills. I will be able to print visual schedules and other classroom learning materials to help these students reach their goals. Through pictures we will give them a voice.

These visual supports will help students with very limited language have their wants and needs met in the classroom and at home.
