This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a Title I school. Ninety percent of the students we serve are socio-economically disadvantaged. Eighty-one percent of the students are Hispanic/Latino. Fourteen point two percent of the students are Asian. Three percent of the students are White, and two percent are classified as other. These kids are faced with many challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. However, those challenges do not define them. My students are encouraged to persevere and overcome through hard work. My course involves project-based learning to encourage students to become problem solvers and critical thinkers, so they have the skills necessary to succeed in life.
My Project
History is not everyone's favorite subject. Help my team and me make US History more exciting by providing us with more resources. Teachers Pay Teachers has a plethora of resources available from escape rooms to simulations to projects. This past year has been a challenge due to distance learning. Students are tired of passive learning. I want to bring back the active learning. I want to bring back the hands on activities.
I want to provide the students at our school with fun and exciting lessons to bring back their love for history.
