My students need a variety of art materials, such as tempera paint, colored sand, paper mache materials, lanyards, basket making kits, tapestry needles, tacky glue, sponges, a wood craft kit and jewelry strings.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second grade, bilingual special education teacher in a high need community elementary school.
My students love art. They have not received art as a separate class this year and they really miss it. They used to doodle in their notebooks and put stickers all over. That was before donors such as yourself funded a small proposal I posted a few months ago in which I asked for some art materials. They was an instant hit. I bought some art books and soon we were integrating art throughout our entire curriculum.
In math, we drew number stories. In science, we used pasta to re-create a butterfly's life cycle. In social studies, we created flags and masks for African-American month. For Mother's Day, we are planning on creating baskets for our mothers.
That's where you come in. Donor, your support will help keep this new-found enthusiasm for learning going. The children are excited to come to school and find out what our latest project is going to be. They look forward to art time and have even asked for me to put out materials so they could create their own projects during center time.
This past week, as we covered the frog's life cycle, I had students draw the cycle out and then, for fun, on Friday afternoon, we made frogs using some googly eyes, chenille sticks and construction paper. It was the perfect complement to the science unit they had been studying all week.
My students need art materials such as tempera paint, colored sand, paper mache materials, lanyards, basket making kits, tapestry needles, tacky glue, sponges, a wood craft kit and jewelry strings. I would love to teach them how to create baskets and masks using paper mache. These were some of the most memorable art-related lessons I had as a child, which is why I am requesting these materials.
Many of the children I work with receive some form of therapy and I have been told by the occupational therapist that hands-on activities are great to help these children with their disabilities.
Donor,
Your support will help these students have some time within the classroom in which to express themselves and reinforce their academic learning with fun activities. Through art, they learn more about themselves and those around them. Thank you for your consideration.
