Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Miss, can I borrow a pencil?" "Miss, do you have a pair of scissors I can use?" Without fail, these are the two most frequently asked questions in my classroom.
At my high-needs school, most students qualify for the free lunch program, meaning they are unable to obtain basic school supplies, such as as pens and pencils.
My students are a bright, enthusiastic group of individuals who genuinely enjoy learning. It saddens me that they often go without their much needed school supplies.
My Project
For this proposal, I am requesting classroom basics such as pens, folders, tape, and pencils. Having these supplies in my classroom will enable me to focus more on instruction and the planned activities, instead of scrounging up supplies for the students. Students will be able to do their homework and participate in the day's lesson. I've also requested hand-sanitizer and tissues to keep students healthy and our classroom environment safe from germs.
Without the basic tools used for studying, students are not able to grow as readers, writers, and thinkers.
There is no reason why students should be without the most basic school supplies. But with a huge budget cut at my school, there is no money for these things, so my students often go without. With your help, every student will have access to the materials that will give them the education they deserve.
