Help Baby Eagles Fly High With iPad Minis

My students need these iPad minis to help with Reading and Math skills so that they are ready for middle school.

My Students

I love my kids and they love me. We grow together, struggle together, laugh together, and learn together. I try my very best to make sure that even though they come from project housing and struggle for the basics, they know I love them and will fight for them to the end.

My class is a class that is coming in struggling.

They went through several teachers in 4th grade and their learning was very disjointed. These students want to learn and are eager to be successful, but the resources available to them are extremely limited. My school is a Title I school and we have 92.3% of our students on free or reduced lunch. These children are from homes where poverty has been a way of life for several generations. Education is the main vehicle by which these children are going to make it out.

My Project

My students will use the iPad minis daily in literacy and math centers. When I am conducting guided reading groups, some students can work on the minis to review comprehension or vocabulary skills. There are so many wonderful reading and math apps out there that my students won't be able to wait to get their hands on the minis. They can also use them for independent study on various topics so they can conduct research. They need to learn these skills for middle school. Some students will use these as a reward for work completion, behavior, etc. These students are very technology-focused and iPad minis will be a wonderful addition to the classroom.

These students come to me mostly from the housing project nearby.

These children struggle daily for the basics and a lot of times, don't have people supporting them or providing them with the necessities. These iPad minis can help open up a whole new world of experiences for these children.
