Help At Risk 9th Graders Succeed in High School

Help me give my students tools, such as a printer, label maker, and school supplies, to help them succeed as they transition to high school.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Woodyard Banham's classroom raised $999

My Project

This project is being created to help set up a new program at the high school I work at. I am an interventionist for 9th graders considered at risk due to the COVID pandemic. The goal of the position is to ensure that all 9th graders will be on track to graduate high school by the end of their freshmen year. Many studies have shown that if a 9th grader fails even one class, they are far less likely to graduate than their peers.

The materials in this project will help ensure that the 9th graders in my caseload stay on track to earn their high school diploma.

In my class, students will be receiving supplemental instruction in their core subjects, as well as lessons in executive functioning that they may have missed out on during COVID shutdowns to help keep them organized and on track.

These supplies will help me in the endeavor to keep them caught up on all of their work. They will also help me create the welcoming classroom environment that I desire: a place where students feel safe, welcome and able to succeed.
