My Students
Our Badminton team has worked hard to represent the diversity of our school. Many of our players describe the Badminton team as a second family! They work hard to condition, improve their skills and support each other on the court. While students are often involved in several after school activities, Badminton players are training everyday after school and even on their spring break. They are also recognized every year for their academic success. We travel all over the city and nearby suburbs and proudly represent our school!
My Project
When I became the head coach, I heard a heart-breaking story of sisters being told that if they wanted to play on their old badminton team in Arizona that they would have to wear the uniform that was provided. This meant that they were not allowed to wear their hijabs and other clothing that made them feel comfortable. We have worked hard to include all students on our team and let them wear whatever makes them feel like their best selves.
I often noticed our players struggling to keep their hijabs in place or having to re-adjust it often.
Having a sport hijab will provide them the ability to feel comfortable and play their best. Thanks for your help!
