Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Spanish in Idaho. This is a rural community, with a high immigrant population. The high school is a low-income school with a 55% free and reduced lunch rate. I teach Spanish to a mixture of students from grades 9-12 with the majority being 9th and 10th graders. I would like to be able to assign my advanced students (grades 11 and 12) projects and assignments that are based on high level writing and reading in Spanish. These students are our advanced learners, in Spanish III and Spanish IV classes. While our school textbook does a good job of helping me teach these students, I need more resources. Most of my advanced learners are college bound students that are taking high level Spanish in high school to help them with their college placement exams. My students need a classroom set of the book “501 Spanish Verbs” and some supplemental Spanish/English dictionaries. The “501 Spanish Verbs” book will open up their Spanish speaking, reading and writing abilities. It will give them a place to research, study and investigate certain words. Verbs are the power behind a language and without verbs, a language is dead. This book teaches students all the different tenses of verbs. The advanced Spanish learners of my school need to be able to have resources available to them to continue on their path of Spanish. Your donation will allow students to complete high level thinking assignments. It will give students the tools and materials they will need to complete important project based on understanding the Spanish world and language. Your donation will be assisting our advanced learners who are on their way to Spanish mastery.
