My Project
A safe and welcoming space is essential for students to learn. Many of my students come from homes where they may not have their own space to feel safe. In younger grades, a carpet is essential for student storage be able to collaborate with their peers and learn in a whole-group environment. This year, my students did not have enough space to all sit at the carpet together.
This led to students having to sit in separate areas and feeling like they didn't have a place in our classroom.
Next year, I want to give my students each a special place to learn that makes them feel safe and welcomed. Students are unable to learn when their basic needs are not being met. By all students having a space to learn, this will increase their ability to learn by meeting their basic needs of feeling safe in school. This rug will last well beyond my students next year and be in use for years to come. Any support that you are able to give is so greatly appreciated.
