Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Having simple items like these helps to motivate my kids. They see how underfunded we are and how we have to keep reusing and relying on parent donations that I feel for them. I try to keep them optimistic by giving out birthday and small gifts of accomplishment (the party favors and ducks). My students are very humble and small things like this goes a long way with feeling valued in the community. I've used a whiteboard that can barely erase for years and finally had to throw it out this year. Coming in this year and seeing the new carpet will show the kids that we respect and care for our classroom just as we do when we go into the 'aina (land). When you come from the economical state they and a lot of us are in, you realize how much the little things can truly make a difference. Mahalos for any support.
