The goal of this project is to foster the true innovation that comes with combining the mind of a scientist or technologist with that of an artist or designer. A MakerBot will allow students to explore the world of engineering and design and prepare for future careers in STEM-related positions.
Our school is a diverse, multicultural Title I school that is dedicated to providing a rigorous and relevant instructional program.
I teach two equally wonderful 5th grade classes in math and science. I maintain high expectations for all students and truly believe in our students and their success.
At our school, to insure that all learners achieve, a bilingual program, instructional modifications, special needs accommodations and individualized attention are provided for diverse learners. Another high priority is the appreciation of cultural diversity, which is evident in all aspects of our school program. Students understand and respect the variety of cultures represented at our school. Our school aims to inspire students to become well-rounded learners and individuals.
My Project
STEM education refers to the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEAM education incorporates the “A” for the arts, recognizing that to be successful in technical fields, individuals must also be creative and use critical thinking skills which are best developed through exposure to the arts. STEAM is an approach to the world, a critical way to understand and explore and engage with the world, and then have the capacity to change that world. In my classroom, I attempt to make as many opportunities as possible for hands-on STEAM experiences. These experiences allow for students to make real world connections that will enable them to become successful in future STEM-related careers.
If we are fully funded for a MakerBot 3D printer, our planned projects and activities incorporate every area of STEAM. It will be an unimaginable opportunity for my students to create something with a 3D printer. This project will make the impossible possible!
A MakerBot 3D printer bundle will provide students with the power to challenge their thinking and their world.
3D printing in education is unique compared to other technologies. The mindset of the student becomes one where it is okay to fail and encourages experimentation in their learning. By donating to this project, you will be allowing my students to get exposure to STEAM-related technologies and careers. Thank you so much for considering funding of this proposal.
