This project will provide everything my partner teacher and I need to create a class store! I teach at a Title I school located in Central Florida; many of the students at my school are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches. Next year, my partner teacher and I will teach all subjects to our fifth graders.
This project will help provide important lifelong lessons for 22 fifth-grade students.
With this project, we will be able to set up a classroom economy system in which students earn "class cash" by completing classroom job duties, outstanding attendance (which is a huge issue at our school), following SOPs, demonstrating growth on diagnostic assessments and other demonstrated behaviors worth rewarding.
This project will allow my students the opportunity to learn about financial literacy through a classroom economy, as well as increase daily attendance, and classwork completion and encourage appropriate behaviors.
Students will be able to choose from the variety of prizes listed within this project (chips, crackers, fruit snacks). Instead of focusing on the negative behaviors (clip down, change your card systems) I am choosing to highlight the positive behaviors in which students are praised and awarded for following the directions and being model students.
