Help 5th Graders Learn Financial Literacy!

Help me give my students items to help increase their financial literacy such as snacks for our school store (chips, cookies, lollipops and crackers) and STEM materials to use during our intervention block.

This project is fully funded

My Project

This project will provide me with everything I need to create a class store to help increase my fifth graders financial literacy! This project will also provide me with STEAM teaching resources to use daily that will not only increase their financial literacy but also help with understanding of our math and science standards. I teach at a Title-1 school located in Central Florida, 78% of students at my school are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches.

This project will help provide important lifelong lessons for 28 fifth grade students.

With this project, I will be able to set up a classroom economy system in which students earn "class cash" by completing classroom job duties, outstanding attendance (which is a huge issue at our school), following SOPs, demonstrating growth on diagnostic assessments and other demonstrated behaviors worth rewarding.

Students will be able to choose from the variety of prizes listed within this project (chips, crackers, fruit snacks). Instead of focusing on the negative behaviors (clip down, change your card systems) I am choosing to highlight the positive behaviors in which students are praised and awarded for following the directions and being model students.

This project will allow my students the opportunity to learn about financial literacy and science standards through the use of STEAM resource books and a STEAM science center activity kit. These materials will reinforce math and science skills, including financial literacy.
