Our school is an Enrichment Model for the Gifted & Talented. It is our belief that each child has a gift they are just waiting to open and explore. My group of 4th graders meet to explore their love of photography. They are hoping to experience life as a photo-journalist and document special events in the school. They believe "Every Picture tells a Story" and need to be given a chance to show it!
Our group has grown by leaps and bounds...I was hoping to have at least 5 or 6 students who might be interested in a photography apprenticeship. What a surprise, 19 students! I just couldn't turn any of them away and deny their enthusiasm. Good quality cameras cost a lot, and I just don't have a budget or resources for all the extra students to have cameras!
You know what we (the kids and I) are looking to accomplish...what do we need to do this? Well, digital cameras would be a great start! My students are in this for the long haul...they are looking to create and express themselves in a media that can be costly, but the creative outlets are unending!
My students have the drive and enthusiasm to work as hard as needed to take this apprenticeship as far as their imagination will go. You can make this a reality by helping us today!
