My students need two ipods with protective cases to give more students an opportunity to listen to reading during Daily 5 reading time each day.

My Students

Remember listening to your grandmother or grandfather tell you stories? Or maybe they read to you in bed before going to sleep each night. Listening to reading is a vital part of reading comprehension as well as fun and engaging to children. We are in need of more opportunities through iPods.

This year 60% of my third grade students come to me below grade level in reading.

We have a long road ahead of us, but we CAN definitely get there. I have 22 students and at least half of my students are on the free or reduced lunch program. We are part of a public school in rural Kentucky.

My Project

Each day during Daily 5 reading students have the opportunity to visit the listen to reading station. The problem is I only have one old iPod that was mine from many years ago for them to use, and one computer. We are in need of two iPods with protective cases to give more opportunities to my students to listen to reading each day. Listening to reading builds better readers, stronger comprehension and student engagement.

With the aid of listening to reading each day my students will be able to hear fluent and accurate readers to enhance their accuracy and fluency, as well as their reading expression.

Listening to reading will build their word reading and reading comprehension to bring them up to grade level. You are who we are looking for to help make a difference in their reading journey!
