This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a spirited bunch of sprightly sprats who are in recovery from the horrid Hurricane Harvey.

My students are inquisitive, energetic and eclectic learners.

Pre-existing lower income and socio-economic demographics are considerably aggravated by the floodwaters of natural disaster. Nevertheless, on their first day returning to school, students were eager to learn and divest themselves of previous woes. This funding opportunity will help replace some supplies and bolster their equitable access to education that connects them to a global community of learners.

As a social studies teacher, I merely seek resources to support students in such a direction to diverse the learning process and opportunities.

My Project

Between writing and map coloring, my students need to keep their supplies sharp and ready. However, manual sharpeners break pencil tips, fracture lead, and cause students to lose time grinding away.

Students minimize sharpening time with the one helical sharpener present in my classroom, but having a single sharpener can cause delays.

So, we would like to have a sharpener for each of our student group tables in order to encourage group collaboration, and lower meandering to the trash can to empty small manual sharpeners. Please help us out to maximize student supplies and minimize the drudgery of other manual sharpeners.
