Heidi Songs Wanted

My students need help learning their letters, sounds, sight words, and numbers. Heidi's videos have a way of reaching students that find it difficult to learn this skill. These include the Musical Math DVD, Jumpin' Numbers DVDs and the Sing & Spell the Sight Words DVDs.

My Students

You know that feeling you get when you start a good book and want to curl up and read it. That is the feeling I want to give my students. I want them to learn to read and have the world at their fingertips. I want their imaginations to spark and grow. My students are in need of your help.

My students are a loving, hard-working group of el kindergarteners at a title one school in Nashville, TN.

About 65% of my class are English Language Learners the other 35% are from low economic families and they are working hard to be independent readers by the end of the school year. I am proud to be part of a title one school that serves primarily low-income families. I feel a need and desire to teach and help these wonderful students. My students come from a variety of cultures and they often speak different languages, which makes it difficult to learn how to read. They also come from different sociol-economic levels, which can cause them to have difficulty learning to read if they don't have anyone to help them.

My Project

With the Heidi songs and cds, the students will have a fun and multi-sensory method to identify numbers, shapes, and spell sight words by listening to music and moving with the motions. This is a great tool to have for low economic children, students with special needs, and any child that has difficulty learning by just memorizing the words. The children will be activity and simultaneously engaged with as many senses as they can be while they learn and practice these reading and math skills. They will see the words, say the word, hear the word, and do the word all at the same time. What is better is that her cd's are aligned with common core standards and this is a fun motivational way to learn.

Virtually all affluent schools have every possible technology as part of their toolkit to ensure that their students learn to the best of their ability.

My students are already on the other side of the opportunity gap. Research has shown that their low economic status already puts them at a disadvantage. These Heidi cd's would help give my kindergarteners a boost in ensuring that all of them will learn to read and build their foundation to a higher education.
