Heartwork and Healing: Justice Begins with Empathy

Help me give my students puppets, a puppet stand, social-emotional stories, books, rocks, rock paint pens, weighted blanket, paint your own squishy, Inside Out figurines, and putty.

My Project

In my office, I believe that every voice matters, every feeling is valid, and every child deserves to see themselves in the stories we tell and the tools we use.

This project brings together a collection of powerful resources to support racial justice and social-emotional learning in a creative, accessible, and child-centered way.

Through puppets, social-emotional books, and hands-on activities like painting rocks and squishies, my students will explore big ideas like empathy, identity, fairness, and community during our monthly guidance lessons.

With the puppet stand and diverse puppets, students will act out stories that reflect their lives and imagine a more just world. Books and SEL stories will spark conversation around race, feelings, inclusion, and kindness. Inside Out figurines, putty, and weighted blankets will give students calming tools to process emotions, while paint pens and rocks will let them create affirming messages and art.

These tools are more than just supplies—they're pathways to healing, understanding, and empowerment.

By supporting this project, you're helping students develop the emotional intelligence and cultural awareness they need to stand up for themselves and others. You're helping them grow not only as learners but as kind, thoughtful changemakers.
