My Students

As one of the top performing charter schools in the state, our school is working daily to help our students achieve their full potential.
The students in my year-round urban charter school are 95% low income. They attend school from 8 am to 5 pm daily. The staff of our charter school works diligently within our rigorous curriculum to help education come alive! Our excited, energetic, determined, enthusiastic students deserve the best we can give them.
My Project
My students will use these headphones and splitters in various ways in the classroom. We actively work to integrate technology into our classroom, but currently students must mute the volume of whatever website they are viewing in order to respect the learning of the students around the. The five sets of headphones we have to share just aren't enough. With these resources, my students will be able to participate actively in web-quests, video lessons, and interactive websites as well as listen to books on tape in pairs and small groups. All of these activities will further their academic knowledge, build fluency, and increase acquisition of a content-rich vocabulary.
These resources will help my classroom and my students' world to come alive with the sounds of learning while respecting the right of each child to learn at a pace appropriate for them.
