This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students, a majority of whom are English language learners, attend a Title I school, highly impacted by poverty and trauma. However, my students' resiliency to these adverse conditions is inspiring. In an effort to help foster their resiliency and meet their needs, students at our school are now learning within a two-teacher model. I am their math teacher.

As part of their math curriculum, my students use online programs that are tailored to each student's language and academic needs.

Without quality headphones, it's difficult for students to hear the instruction that the program provides.

My Project

My students would benefit greatly from having their own set of headphones for online learning. Our school uses two, online programs that are each tailored to meet a student's specific needs in math and literacy. It is so important that my students have a classroom environment where they can focus and concentrate so that they can maximize the effectiveness of the programs they work with, ESPECIALLY students who are learning English. They need to be able to hear clearly. The headphones I'm hoping to purchase would make all of this possible.

With 20 students all trying to hear their math or reading lesson, it can get very loud, disruptive and distracting in the classroom.

This makes learning hard, and time spent with the online programs becomes unproductive. Again, headphones would solve this problem. Having a quiet classroom, would also allow me, to implement smaller skills based learning groups as well.
