My Students
My kids love when they can use technology. The curriculum our school implements is i-Ready, to which a majority of their individualized practice and instruction is done through online lessons. The program's characters do a lot of talking through solving problems using real world situations. The students love getting on this program.
My kids are learning to love math!
We are discovering how we are surrounded by mathematics in our everyday lives. It makes lessons exciting when they can relate the material to something important to them.
My Project
Students use Chromebooks on a daily basis. The wear and tear on the headphone wires and ports cause us to go through headphones (that I can afford) quite frequently. Also, wires can become a distraction and fidgeting item for students. Most importantly, the time that would be saved from not having to untangle cords could easily add 5 minutes of learning time for an individual student. This can add up to be in excess of 30 minutes daily. A purchase of more sturdy, wireless headphones will be just the solution to this issue. Students are currently using Chromebooks without headphones. Volume must be turned down so as not to be a distraction, but this makes it difficult for the student to hear what is being said on their lessons.
