Hear Ye, Hear Ye! We Are Creating Centers In Our Classroom!
My students need 1 touchscreen laptop for intensive small group learning, 1 laminating machine and 1 compact color printer to create individualized student centers.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
“Not having heard something is not as good as having heard it; having heard it is not as good as having seen it; having seen it is not as good as knowing it; knowing it is not as good as putting it into practice.” - Xunzi 312-230 BC - The goal is to guide my students to independent thought and work.
My students are in the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHOH) Special Education Program.
My amazing group of students consist of three grade levels: Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade. All in one classroom and all at the same time. Due to the combined effects of hearing loss, language delay, speech delay, lack of fine and gross motor skills, physical limitations and any additional range of disabilities, my students require continuous monitoring and assistance in their educational learning. However, no matter the challenges facing them, these students are eager to explore the many facets of education. Our wonderful little school services general education students along with a Special Education Program for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHOH) Students ranging from Kindergarten-8th grade. However, our school along with many other schools today, struggle to keep up with the demands for touchscreen technology along with new and exciting pre-made, hands-on center activities for all students.
My Project
Today there are excellent resources available for teachers to create individualized student centered activities. With the focus on literacy, it is important to have a variety of engaging research-based center activities at both the instructional and independent level. These activities will need to be printed, cut, glued and laminated for my students to use in the classroom and if needed, to take home and practice. With your donation, the Brother color printer and Lakeshore laminator will aide in creating student activities that are colorfully engaging. My classroom would also benefit from an HP touchscreen laptop to use during our intensive teacher-led small group learning to aid in literacy in the core academic areas. Using the HP touchscreen laptop will help motivate my students into learning and be less stressful or frustrating for those students that have difficulty using a keyboard and a mouse. The sharpener request will help with all the writing that we do in class.
My students will greatly benefit from teacher-made, teacher-created student centered activities that are geared to their individual academic needs.
The access to touchscreen technology during intensive small group learning will increase their level of interest in academics by making learning fun and less frustrating or stressful. My students, with hearing losses and language delays, struggle and need additional resources. Please donate and help make my students and my classroom a success!
