My students need a phonics activity center for their listening, speaking, and writing skills.

My Students

Do you remember how you learned how to read and write? First you learned how to write your letters, then you sounded them out, and finally, you put them together to make complete words. My students are at the beginning of their long journey as scholars and need practice with phonics and writing.

My students come to school to learn everyday.

They have limited resources outside of their school environment, and our entire staff works hard to enrich learning above and beyond our district supplied materials. We need to enrich their learning beyond the traditional school supplied materials. How? By teaching them how to become independent learners, while applying newly taught skills. My students need engaging and meaningful materials to help them master the skills taught during small group practice. This allows them to correctly apply new skills, while the teacher works with small groups to scaffold and differentiate instruction in the classroom.

My Project

The phonics activity center will allow up to 8 students at a time to practice important skills at a listening/writing center, enhancing their learning experience through an interactive delivery. Students need the extra practice in a small group setting to help them master the necessary skills to become proficient in their phonics and writing skills.

This phonics activity center will be an educational asset to my current group of students, as well as future groups of students.

My students really enjoy activities where they can be be part of an interactive learning experience. We learn by "doing", not by "watching".
