My Project

Engaging books will have a powerful impact on our intervention reading students in grades 7 and 8 who struggle with reading grade-level stories independently. Many of these students have difficulty decoding text, which limits their access to rich vocabulary and engaging stories. We were recently generously gifted several audiobooks, but we do not have the printed texts to go with them. Purchasing the matching books will allow students to read along as they listen, supporting their comprehension, fluency, and word recognition.

This combination of audio and text will help bridge the gap between where they are and where they need to be, building confidence and fostering a love of reading.

We also want to continue challenging our students with texts that are just above their current reading level, helping them stretch their skills, close the academic gap, and move toward reading grade-level material with confidence. These books also represent genres and topics that students might not typically choose on their own, allowing them to expand their love for reading and deepen their knowledge of literature and the world around them.
