My Project
In fifth-grade, learning is dynamic, diverse, and often digital. My students, many of whom come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, are full of potential and eager to grow—but they face challenges that require extra support and thoughtful tools. As a Title I school, we strive to provide equitable access to the resources students need to thrive.
Headphones allow students to focus during independent reading, engage in personalized learning platforms, access read-aloud accommodations for assessments, and participate in small-group interventions without distractions.
They have become an essential learning tool in our classroom. For many of my students, having their own pair of headphones fosters independence, reduces sensory overwhelm, and helps them stay focused on their learning.
Unfortunately, not all students can afford their own headphones, and shared classroom sets wear out quickly. This grant would allow me to provide quality, individual headphones to each student—helping to level the playing field and support their academic growth. With this simple tool, students can tune in, block out distractions, and connect to content in meaningful ways.
Thank you for helping me turn up the volume on equity—and give every student the chance to hear, focus, and succeed.
