Help me give my students a headphone (with a microphone) and a stylus to better help support them in remote, hybrid, and in-school learning across subjects.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Raniolo's classroom raised $470
This project is fully funded
My Students
We have a class of enthusiastic fifth-graders that are true assets to our Upper West Side school, P.S. 166. They are caring, thoughtful individuals that have a thirst for knowledge. Despite these unprecedented times, our students attend school, in-person or remotely, with a smile on their faces ready to face new challenges and ready to learn. They like to tackle projects head-on and invite complexity. Despite the difficulties that hybrid learning and remote learning pose, I have witnessed their resilience, perseverance, innovativeness, and love for learning shine through in these months together. It has been my pleasure to watch them continuously grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
My Project
These requested items will benefit our students as we are currently teaching in a hybrid and remote learning model that requires the frequent use of technology. As such, since students cannot interact as often with all of their peers, giving opportunities for hybrid and remote students to interact with each other is paramount for forming a tight, safe community where learning can flourish.
The headphones will enable all students, at home and at school, to communicate and work together with their peers with full focus.
Additionally, another benefit is that students can learn so much from each other and working together. Without headphones, there are times that students have trouble hearing one another as all computers contribute to the sound in the room which hinders their group work. These headphones will solve that problem.
Moreover, technology must be used heavily during these times. So much of the work is also done online. At times, it can be difficult to use a finger to draw as it is less accurate than a stylus. A stylus for each student would help students draw, set up problems, and annotate across subjects more clearly and legibly.
Hence, through these materials, students will get to have more of a natural community classroom experience and have more differentiation. Students will gain support that is useful for all types of learners.
