This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Since the novel coronavirus outbreak, my students and I were taken away from our classroom and our school has been closed for weeks. Our norm abruptly disrupted. We don't have any answers as to when we will return. Due to school closings, we transitioned to Remote Learning offering instruction from afar with little preparation.
This virus has also put a lot of financial stress on my students' families.
Some of my students do not have the materials to complete their STEAM assignments. These project foster ingenuity and creativity that lead to new ideas. It brings FUN and engagement to their homes. I hope to raise enough money to directly provide them with the materials they need for academic and emotional success.
My Project
During this unprecedented time, many of my students are stuck at home wondering when they will return to school. Our freedom has been taken away and our thoughts and imaginations confined. These materials will be used to break those chains and allow our voices to be heard.
My students need crayons, construction paper, glue, and paint to foster imagination and contribute to their academic and emotional success.
I'll challenge my students to use these materials in their STEAM projects but I will also encourage recreational play. In times of isolation, it's important to give our students the means to express their thoughts and feelings.
