My students need 12 personal CD players and headphones to listen to their books as they read.

My Students
In today's world, most Special Education students are included in the General Education classroom. My students do not want to feel different in any way, shape, or form. Much success has come from making the General Education curriculum accessible to these students.
My students are highly motivated and want to achieve the same things as the next kid without a disability.
Reading and keeping up is difficult when they have various reading disabilities, which makes reading a laborious process and a true barrier. They are between 10 and 12 years old, but their reading abilities range from 6 years to 10 years old. My students attend a multicultural neighborhood school. Yes, my students are "special" in more ways than one.
My Project
The personal CD players and headphones will give my students access to the regular curriculum, so they can achieve all that they want to be. When they can listen and read along in a novel, it helps them to be just like the next kid. They can participate in their literature circles and give just the same insight to these discussion groups as their peers.
It's difficult enough for my students in everyday life, having each their own type of disability, to be able to function as well as his classmate or peer.
The CD players will help them access the General Education curriculum and be successful in one part of their lives.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
