This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I want to give my students so much because they have so little. Most of the students I work with come from homes below the poverty line, and I want them to have the chance to experience something that can influence their lives. Some of these students don't have access to the simplest supplies at home.
I want them to be exposed to as much as possible so that they don't fall behind.
Even though they have so much going against them, they bounce back each time and come to school ready to learn. They look to our school as a place to escape their rough home lives and that makes me want to provide them with everything I can.
My Project
When in school, it is important to have healthy foods because they can provide the students with energy to complete assignments. We all know learning on an empty stomach can be difficult to stay engaged. A lot of our students at EBA stay after school for after-school activities, such as after-school sports and homework club which most of the students do not bring snacks.
Providing our students with a healthy snack after school can give them a boost to succeed!!
Having snacks such as protein bars, chips, nuts, and drinks such as water can help energize our students during a long day at school. I know my students will be very thankful if they were to receive healthy snacks for our afterschool programs. Also, a Keurig would be great for the students to have hot chocolate or hot tea during the winter.
