My Students

I teach 20 hard working, silly, and amazing kindergarten students in a small east Texas town. I have taught kindergarten for 6 years.

A majority of my students come from economically challenged homes.

Some of my students are English Language Learners. Our school is mainstream, where students with special needs are in regular classrooms with the other students.

My students are eager to learn, but many of my students come to school hungry and in need of basic supplies to meet their needs. This makes it hard for them to learn.

My Project

Most of my students do not have a snack to eat each morning or afternoon during snack time.

They come to school hungry and are able to get a healthy breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria, but I need help providing healthy snacks for their snack time.

Studies show that children cannot learn when they are hungry. My student have a late lunch so I try to provide them with 2 snacks each day. One is provided for them in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Students will learn about healthy eating habits while being introduced to healthy snack options.
