Healthy Snacks vs. Junk Food!

Help me give my students healthy snacks that will get them through the morning until it's lunchtime and they get a decent meal.

My Project

Most of my students do not eat healthy breakfasts, if they eat breakfast at all. Our school provides breakfast, but many students arrive too late to get it so they go hungry. When the morning recess bell rings, I have 10 or 12 students asking for a snack, and I want to give them something that doesn't have a lot of sugar or fat, which isn't always easy these days.

The snacks I've chosen are intentionally low in sugar and fat as I want my students to not only eat healthfully, but to know that I care about what they eat.

So many students in our school eat junk food all day; they bring huge bags of snacks to school and then don't eat the nutritious lunch the school provides.

My hope is that by providing tasty snacks that are also healthy, my students will be satisfied with a snack that doesn't have a lot of sugar and fat and will perhaps make healthy snack choices when outside of school.
