My students are second graders at an inner-city public school in Ohio. My class comes to school daily eager to learn all that they can.
My students are actively engaged in learning all day and this makes them very hungry!
My children need access to healthy snacks while in my second-grade classroom. They come to school excited to learn new things and actively engage in learning, but hungry bellies can be very distracting. They look forward to snack time each day and they enjoy their snack while their learning continues. My second graders will use these snacks, Cheese-Its, pretzels, Goldfish crackers and Animal Crackers, to have a daily mid-morning eating time. These healthy choices will provide my students a variety of healthier options for snack time. These snacks will allow the children to concentrate on their school work throughout the day. These food items will also be handy if a child missed breakfast at school and did not eat at home. The stress of food insecurity will be erased after this project is fully funded. My second graders will be very thankful to have this food on hand at school each day.
