Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are sixth graders entering middle school. My students are very excited to come back to school after remote learning for 1 1/2 years. They are between the ages of 10 and 13. They are motivated to learn but are also scared of the new journey. Most of the students have learning disabilities. Most of my students are from low-income families and cannot bring a snack to school every day.

Most of the students have a learning disabilities. They want to make new friends and want to fit in. Their lunch schedule is at 12:18 pm; by that time, they are starving. They get fidgety and moody because their stomach hurts from hunger. We allow them to eat their snack in class, but not all of them have a snack.

My Project

The donations for this project will help my students feel good. They travel from far destination and by the time they arrive at school, the cafeteria is closed. Proving them with snacks helps them concentrate in class and learn the new material. Snacks will motivate them to come to school and pay attention in class.

I am teaching them that our school community is a place where they are safe and can receive the resources they need.

Students will eat the snack at the end of the second period beginning of the third. I will distribute the snacks every day. These healthy snacks are going to help all students feel computer and ready to learn. They are going to see that I care about their learning and their health. I already see my students happy eating their snacks.
