Healthy Snacks for Scholars

My students need healthy snacks, like granola bars and juice, to give them the stamina to make it through the school day.

My Students

I challenge you to find students as dedicated as the ones at my high school. They come early, stay late, and some even work through lunch. My school's start time is 7:40; however, students are frequently here much earlier. They come early for review classes and to get help with homework.

Rushing out the door as the sun rises does not leave them much time to enjoy a healthy breakfast.

In addition to coming early, some stay until 4:00 or later to take advantage of the quiet work space that the school offers. After that, they go on to sports practices or games. I have no doubts that my students will notice a difference in their bodies after consuming a healthy snack in place of their usually Doritos and energy drinks.

My Project

This project was inspired by my hard-working seniors who frequently skip meals or eat junk food from the vending machines. With all of their time spent on school work or extracurricular activities, many of them do not take a moment to enjoy a healthy meal. The nutritious essentials we are requesting, juices and healthy snacks, will help students put the hunger pains at bay so that they can concentrate in class.

Who cares about analyzing poetry or writing an essay when your stomach is growling?

Something simple, like a granola bar and bottle of juice, will make a difference in a student's school day. It will give him the nutrients he needs to concentrate during the lesson and the stamina he needs to finish a test or writing assignment.
