This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work at a school where over 60% of students receive free school lunches, however, the unfortunate truth is that many students refuse to eat school-provided lunch and come to class hungry. This leads to behavioral issues, sometimes truly severe ones, in the science classroom.

Students are constantly asking me if I have snacks, and as a new teacher, I don't have the personal funds to provide for this physical need so many of my students have.

This project will lead to improved attention and better moods which will lead to a more conducive learning environment. Students need these physical and socio-emotional needs met.
