My students need healthy snacks that are allergen-free to fuel their minds throughout the day.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in an integrated classroom where students of all abilities, both in general and special education, learn and work together to achieve success. Throughout the day, we focus on differentiated teaching in small groups to meet the needs of all learners and we are always striving for new ways to interest and excite them as they learn. My students give their best every day, but coming from a low SES neighborhood, their families may struggle to provide for them.
The majority of students in our Title I school receive free breakfast and lunch, but the growing brains of these bright students often need a boost.
Please help us provide healthy mid-day snacks for our classroom!
My Project
Having a stash of non-perishable healthy snacks that are allergen-free will be a great help in our classroom. Countless times a month, a student who may seem upset, ill, or unmotivated to begin the day often explains, "I'm just hungry" when asked what is troubling them. We would like to have these healthy snacks on hand for just such occasions... or simply for class celebrations such as publishing parties at the end of a writing unit. In addition, it is often hard for young students to make healthy choices when choosing a snack, and exposing them to some new options is a great opportunity to instill healthy habits from a young age.
