Healthy Snacks for Healthy Students

My Students

My students live in a high-poverty neighborhood where they come to school to feel safe, loved, and be given the best education possible. My classroom is made up of ELLs, English language learners, and students with special needs.

Our school has big majority of ELLs especially in the grades of Kindergarten through Second grade.

My students are driven by their desire to learn. They have love for reading, and I, as their teacher, would love to continue to encourage this love for reading.

My Project

These snacks will help my students get through the morning before they have lunch. My students need a healthy snack to help continue their focus through class instruction. Our class has snack everyday between 10:30 am and 11:00am since lunch for them is not until 12:30 pm.

With most of my students coming from a high-poverty household, the only meals they receive are the meals the schools provide.

Our school provides breakfast and lunch for the students Two days of the week, there is a light snack, but most of the time my students will not eat it.
