Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of my students come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Many of them come from low-income households and often rely on school breakfasts and lunches to be able to get something to eat. Often times I get asked if I have some snacks or a bottle of water to drink while they are in the middle of working on an assignment during class and I am embarrassed to say I have none. At the start of the school year, I bought a bunch of snack bars and mini bottles of water to share with whoever needed them but after it ran out I was no longer able to sustain the growing number of students who kept asking for snacks.
