This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a school that is going through big changes. Our goal is to eventually be able to serve our students from kindergarten through 12th grade. I have the opportunity to outfit a classroom for a brand new batch of 2nd graders.

Our students are community learners.

They learn the importance of community and how they can help build a strong community of their own. We are a Title I school, where everyone receives free breakfast, and most receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many of my students come from trauma-filled backgrounds and low-income​ families, and they are eager to learn.

My school uses the Expeditionary Learning curriculum.

My Project

I am requesting these healthy snacks as many of my students' parents cannot afford to send healthy snacks.

It is extremely difficult for my students to focus on learning when they are hungry.

My second graders will be able to focus and keep their stamina up for the entire day and avoid the hangries.

It is a simple request that will make a huge impact on my students. As educators, we must make sure we are doing the best we can for our students to make sure they are getting a quality education.
