My Students

I believe that students must be truly engaged with their learning if it is going to be meaningful and long-lasting. This engagement can come in various forms, but one consistent way to make learning exciting is to integrate hands on lessons.

Approximately 547 children attend my school and identify mostly as Multiracial, Black, non-Hispanic, and Asian.

100% of the students here receive free breakfast and lunch. We are also a Title I school with at least 40% of a school's students coming from low-income families. Our school is a well maintained school with a loving, caring administrator, as well as teachers and support staff who do everything within their power to see that the needs of the students are met. We put students first. My students work very hard and are excited about learning. Everyone is valued, and we do all we can to provide what each child needs.

My Project

Many of the students that attend our school go home on the weekends knowing they will have nothing to eat. This should not be a challenge that they have to face.

By providing weekly Back Pack Buddy bags for our children, they are now able to go home with healthy meals and snacks until they return to school on Monday.

These bags are filled with nutritious food and snacks and distributed to our students every Friday. Children always ask me on Friday if they are still getting their food bag. They count on this to get them through the weekend when otherwise they may go hungry.
