This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are playful, kind, unique, and insightful, and each one brings something special to our classroom community. They are curious learners who strive to do their best, even when faced with challenges.
Over the years, I’ve come to realize that their ability to focus and stay engaged is directly connected to whether or not their basic needs—like hunger—are met.
A few years ago, a student approached me after school and shared that she was hungry and hadn’t eaten much at lunch. Since then, I’ve kept our classroom snack cabinet stocked with healthy, nourishing snacks to support students throughout the day.
The snacks I’m requesting will help replenish this cabinet and ensure that no student has to struggle through the day with an empty stomach. When students have access to a quick, healthy snack, their energy levels improve, their focus increases, and they are better prepared to participate in lessons and complete their work. My goal is to continue creating a learning environment where every student feels cared for, supported, and ready to learn.
These snacks may seem like a small gesture, but they truly make a meaningful difference in my students' daily success and well-being.
