My students need a working microwave for healthy options and better choices.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Firth's classroom raised $188

My Students
My second graders are a great group of students! My classroom is made up of thirty eager second graders. I also have a wide range of reading and math abilities in my classroom. My reading levels range from pre-kindergarten to fourth grade. It's important that I read with these children every day to get them on grade level by the end of the year. Many of my students are very low readers, speak English as a second language and get free or reduced price lunch. All my students will do anything for anybody, especially the ESL students. We are always bringing the best out of everyone. Despite my students' backgrounds, they all have one thing in common, and that is their love of learning and helping others.
My Project
A microwave would benefit students in the whole school. To promote our Philadelphia Campaign for Healthier Schools, we need to start with healthy snacks. This microwave would be placed in a room where teachers can all use it. Our "Golden" students will be able to receive healthy rewards on a monthly basis due to their good behavior.
Over the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in America have tripled, and today, nearly one in three children in America are overweight or obese.
Let's help our future leaders by showing them what is right. This microwave is a start to our students eating healthy. We can make popcorn , oatmeal , as well as other healthy treats. Thank you for taking your time to read this grant.
