My Students

My students are a diverse group of students from the heart of Bed-Stuy Brooklyn growing up in low income families. My students are creative, thoughtful innovative and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, and my students are becoming enthusiastic learners.

In the classroom we incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!

They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

My Project

My goal for this project is to create an environment that is warm, safe, and welcoming while maintaining a fun, creative learning atmosphere for 5th graders. This school year I want to increase attendance. One way is by eliminating the amount of germs that are in our classroom and providing snacks for students who are hungry. Germs lead to many student absences as well as teachers which causes lost learning opportunities.

This project will help my students stay healthy and focused on their learning by preventing illnesses, eating healthy snacks through the use of these supplies.

My classroom will become a safer and healthier place, students will have access to their own personal desk supplies with a kit to ensure their areas are cleaned. Your donation of healthy snacks will help students stay energized throughout their day as I can have classroom snacks available when they get hungry. The glade air fresheners will help set the tone of the classroom with 35 bodies in one room.

These supplies will help maintain a healthy classroom environment for my students, which keeps them learning year-round.
