This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Most of our students families are full time workers and there are more than half of my students that go home to a empty house or stay alone for most of the day during the summer. I want to provide a opportunity for my students to be engaged and learn how to stay active and how to make staying active fun!

I want to offer a summer school beginning boxing class for my students, where we move together, learn to trust each other and most importantly stay active and make healthy choices.

During the summer and after school many of our students spend a lot of their time alone, either indulging in their electronics or wandering the streets and many make bad choices. With your help and equipment I want to be able to give them the opportunity to train in a safe space, but also have the opportunity to log off their electronics and learn to be healthy and safe.

The requested material will be used to create stations, where students work out. I want to establish routines where we can work out in a hour each class and move through different exercise rotations through the hour. The hour can be from weighted bans, to ladders, and beginning boxing with me instructing them.
