This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have a sign in our room that reads, "World's Best Class!" We make it happen by working hard on academics every day. We deserve great physical education equipment to exercise our bodies as well as our brains. We want to be well-rounded adults someday... figuratively, NOT literally! THANK YOU!!
We are 18 curious and energetic 2nd graders that make our teacher smile each day.
Our school is in Florida, so it's no surprise that our class is 100% of Hispanic origin. We are in a public school in a working-class neighborhood. The physical fitness level is lacking for two thirds of the class due to weight levels.
My Project
Sports is a mainstay of American culture. I want my students to do more than just watch T.V. to enjoy sports. I want them to know how great it feels to kick a goal or to make a basket. It also feels amazing to try your best and to improve, even if you don't make any points for your team. On the field is where we can learn GRACE and TEAMWORK. Under a teacher's guidance, children learn how to win and lose with respect. In my opinion, cheering for the hero is just as important as encouraging a teammate with less skill. We hope a donor will honor our request for exercise equipment (basketballs, soccer balls, jump ropes, etc.)!
I want my students to feel good about themselves long after they leave my classroom.
Sometimes, those with academic difficulty shine on the athletic field and vice versa. Your gift would make it possible for all my students to shine like the stars I know they are. Their parents work hard for their income and they don't always have the time or the funds to enroll them in organized sports leagues. Please help my community's children. Thanks for giving back!
