it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher in a TK classroom, I am dedicated to providing my students with the resources they need to thrive in a safe and supportive learning environment. Unfortunately, our district recently discovered lead contamination in several of the water fountains, which means we can no longer rely on these fountains for our students' hydration needs. To ensure that my students have access to clean, safe drinking water throughout the day, I’m requesting vacuum-insulated stainless steel water bottles. These bottles will keep the water cool and fresh, encouraging my young learners to stay hydrated and can be filled at our filtered stations, which is essential for their physical well-being and academic success.
In addition to promoting health, I also want to enhance my students' social-emotional learning and cognitive development.
That’s why I’m requesting wooden block people to use in our block station. These simple yet versatile figures will allow students to engage in meaningful, open-ended play where they can create stories, practice communication skills, and build their vocabulary in a way that feels natural and authentic.
Lastly, I am seeking a few carefully chosen books that celebrate the unique identities and genius of my students. One of these books focuses on recognizing emotions and understanding how they manifest in our bodies, which is especially important for young children as they develop social-emotional skills. This book will support students in identifying their feelings and asserting their boundaries, fostering a greater sense of self-awareness and emotional regulation. By fully funding this project, we can create a classroom environment that empowers students to be happy, healthy, and safe, setting them on the path for success both inside and outside the classroom.
