Healthy Habits for Young Minds

My Students

"Being green" is one virtue that my entire school works toward every day of the school year. My students and I are in a unique situation being in a portable that has no water and would benefit from having the materials necessary to maintain green, healthy, and productive lives.

My students come from highly diverse backgrounds both economically and culturally.

They are eager learners and are fascinated with real world concepts and ideas. We have a highly populated school which has created the need for many portable classrooms. These classrooms are not connected to water lines, so anytime that students need water they have to travel into the main building. Having reusable water bottles would limit the amount of time students are out of the classroom, allowing them to focus their attention on the lesson at hand.

My Project

These reusable water bottles play a huge role in teaching my students about reducing plastic waste, reusing materials, drinking water, and staying healthy. Many of my students drink soda and high sugar juice while skipping on the water their bodies need to stay healthy. These water bottles will help promote the consumption of water as a vital nutrient in our bodies, while impacting our learning environment by reducing the amount of time students are out of class at the water fountain.

Having reusable water bottles in our classroom will ensure that my students learn lifelong, healthy habits and have the ability to focus on their class work and limit time spent outside of the classroom.
